Note: This driver is for FUJITSU DL6400Pro/DL6600Pro printers.
      Do not use with other printers.
      When printing using Windows2000 or WindowsXP, Windows2003, change the
      printer settings back to the factory default.
      Otherwise printer may not function as expected.



1. Printer driver operating environment

NOTE: This product only operates on English-version Windows2000 and WindowsXP,
      Windows2003.
      This printer driver is for the 32-bit version of Windows2003.
      This product is not compatible with the 64-bit version of Windows2003.

  FUJITSU DL6400Pro/DL6600Pro printer driver consists of the following files:

3. Printer driver setup

3.1 Before setting up
---------------------
- Prepare the following for setup:
   1) English-version Windows2000 or WindowsXP, Windows2003 operating system
      (CD-ROM)
   2) FUJITSU DL6400Pro/DL6600Pro Printer Driver Disk (this disk)

- When setting up, log on with an Administrator account.

- Before setting up, go to System Properties, select <ignore> or <warn> for the
  "file signature verification" at the driver signature options.

- If the FUJITSU DL6400Pro/DL6600Pro printer driver has already been set up,
  delete it and set up again.

- This guide includes procedures on installing printer drivers on locally
  connected PC's.
  For installation methods on network connection and shared printers, refer to
  the Windows2000 or WindowsXP, Windows2003 user's manual or "help".

- For users who use DL6600Pro. Please change the name of "DL6400Pro"
  to "DL6600Pro".

3.2 for Windows 2000

3.2.1 Setup method using Add Printer Wizard  (without using Plug & Play)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Start Add Printer Wizard.
The following is the FUJITSU DL6400Pro setup procedure after Windows2000
is started up.

a. Go to "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Printers".

b. Double-click the "Add Printer" icon in the "Printers" folder.

c. When "Add Printer Wizard" appears, select "next".

d. When "local or network printer" from "Add Printer Wizard" appears, select
   "local printer", un-check "automatically detect and install my Plug and
   Play printer", and select "next".

e. Select the connecting port for the printer from "use the following port",
   and select "next".

f. When the printer list of each manufacturer appears click on "Have Disk...",
   insert the printer driver disk, enter the disk drive name "A:\Win2k_xp" as
   the "Copy manufacture's files from:", and select "OK".
   Note: The FD drive above is assumed to be A:, make changes if necessary.

g. The model names will be listed in the "printers" list box.  Select the model
   and click on "next".
   Note: When the message "Use Existing Driver" appears, select "Replace
         existing driver".

h. Enter the printer model name, and specify whether the printer will be used
   as the default printer, and select "next".
   Note: The printer will be set automatically as the default printer if no
         other printers are installed.

i. Specify if the printer will be shared, and select "next".

j. Perform a printout test if desired, and select "next".

k. When the message "Completing the Add Printer Wizard", make sure the selected
   contents are correct, and select "finish".

l. When the message "digital signature not found" appears, select "yes".
   Note: As in 3.1, this is the case when the "file signature verification" is
         set to "warn".

m. The files are copied and the driver installation for the driver is now
   completed.

n. As in [j.], when "Print Test Page" is selected, a dialogue box will appear
   when printing is completed.  Click the "OK" or "troubleshoot" button.
   Note with Test Page:
     - Printing will proceed based on the printer driver settings at the time.
     - The default values of the page-feeding method is "automatically select"
       with paper size set and "Letter", therefore please prepare Letter paper
       for the test page.
     - Change the setting when using a different size of paper for the test
       page.

o. When installation is complete, an icon of the added printer will appear in
   the "Printers" folder.

Printer driver setup is now complete.

3.3.2 Setup method using add-printer wizard (using Plug & Play)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Start the Add Printer Wizard.
The following is the setup procedure after Windows 2000 is started up.
Note: Turn on the printer.

a. Go to "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Printers".

b. Double-click the "Add Printer" icon in the "Printers" folder.

c. When "Add Printer Wizard" appears, select "next".

d. When "local or network printer" from "add-printer wizard" appears, select
   "local printer", check "automatically detect and install my Plug and Paly
   printer", and select "next".

e. "New printer detection" will be activated, if successfully found, the
   dialogue "found new hardware" will appear.

f. When the message "Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard" from the "Found
   new hardware wizard" appears, select "next".

g. When the message "Install Hardware Device Drivers" from the "Found New
   Hardware wizard" appears, make sure "search for a suitable driver for my
   device (recommended)" is selected, and select "next".

h. When the screen "Locate Driver Files" appears, insert the FUJITSU DL6400Pro
   /DL6400Pro Printer Driver Disk, and un-check "floppy disk drives" and
   "CD-ROM drives".  Make sure only "specify a location" is checked, and
   select "next".

i. Enter the disk drive name "A:\Win2k_xp" in the "Copy manufacture's files
   from:", and select "OK".
   NOTE: The FD drive above is assumed to be A:, make changes if necessary.

j. When "Driver Files Search Results" appears, make sure the message "Windows
   found a driver for this device. To install the driver Windows found, click
   next." appears, and select "next".

k. When the message "digital signature not found" appears, select "yes".
   NOTE: As in 3.1, this is the case when the "file signature verification" is
   set to "warn".

l. File copy starts.

m. When the "Completiong the Found New Hardware Wizard" appears, make sure the
   message "Windows has finished installing the software for this device"
   appears, and select "finish".

n. When "New Printer Detection" appears on the screen, Make sure the message
   "Do you want to print a test page?" appears.  Select "yes" or "no", and
   select "next".

o. When "Completing the Add Printer Wizard" appears on the screen, make sure
   the message "You have successfully completed the Add Printer Wizard"
   appears.  Select "finish".

p. As in [n.], when "Print Test Page" is selected, a dialogue box will appear
   when printing is completed.  Click the "OK" or "troubleshoot" button.
   Note with Test Page:
     - Printing will proceed based on the printer driver settings at the time.
     - The default values of the page-feeding method is "automatically select"
       with paper size set and "Letter", therefore please prepare Letter paper
       for the test page.
     - Change the setting when using a different size of paper for the test
       page.

q. When installation is complete, an icon of the added printer will appear in
   the "Printers" folder.

Printer driver setup is now completed.
If the installation cannot be executed, refer to "3.2.1 Setup method using
Add Printer Wizard (without using Plug & Play)".

3.2.3 Using Plug & Play
-----------------------
NOTE: Turn off both the PC and the printer.

a. Make sure the printer is connected to the PC, and turn on the printer.

b. Make sure the printer is on-line, turn on the PC, and start up Windows2000.

c. "Found New Hardware" starts.
   A dialogue "Installing..." will appear if it is found.

d. When the "Found New Hardware Wizard" appears, select "next".

e. When the message "Install Hardware Device Drivers" from the "Found New
   Hardware Wizard" appears, make sure "search for a suitable driver for my
   device (recommended)" is selected, and select "next".

f. When the screen "Locate Driver Files" appears, insert the FUJITSU DL6400Pro
   /DL6400Pro Printer Driver Disk, and un-check "floppy disk drives" and
   "CD-ROM drives".  Make sure only "specify a location" is checked, and
   select "next".

Start Add Printer Wizard.
The following is the FUJITSU DL6400Pro setup procedure after WindowsXP is
started up.

a. Go to "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "Printers and Other Hardware".

b. Select "Add Printer".

c. When "Add Printer Wizard" appears, select "next".

d. When "Local or Network Printer" in "Add Printer Wizard" appears, select
   "Local printer attached to this computer", un-check "Automatically detect
   and install my Plug & Play printer", and select "next".

e. Specify the connecting port for the printer, and select "next".

f. Click the "Have Disk..." button.

g. Insert this disk into the FD drive (if A: is the FD drive), change the path
   from "A:\" to "A:\Win2k_xp", and press "OK".
   NOTE: The FD drive above is assumed to be A:, make changes if necessary.

h. The model names will be shown in the list box.
   Choose the model used and press "next".
   NOTE: When the message "Do you want to keep the existing driver or use the
         new one?" Appears, select "Replace existing driver".

i. Enter the printer model name , and specify whether the printer will be used
   as the default printer, and select "next".

j. Specify if the printer will be shared, and select "next".

k. After installation is completed, print test page if desired, and select
   "next".

l. To end the wizard, click the "Finish" button.

m. When the screen "Hardware Installation" appears, select "Continue Anyway".
   NOTE: As in 3.1, this is the case when the "Driver Signing" is set to
         "Warn".

n. The files are copied and the installation for the driver is now completed.
   In [k.], when "Print Test Page" is selected, a dialogue box to inform the
   printing complete will appear when printing is completed.  click the "Yes"
   or "Troubleshoot..." button.
   Note  with Test Page:
     - Printing will proceed based on the printer driver settings at the time.
     - The default values of the page-feeding method is "automatically select"
       with paper size set and "Letter", therefore please prepare Letter paper

b. Select "Add Printer" from the "Printer and other hardware" screen.

c. When the "Add Printer Wizard" screen appears, select "next".

d. When "Local or Network Printer" in "Add Printer Wizard" appears, select
   "Local printer attached to this computer", un-check "Automatically detect
   and install my Plug & Play printer", and select "next".

e. For the rest of the procedure, please refer to procedure [e.] and thereafter
   in "3.3.1.1 for WindowsXP Professional".

f. After installation, an icon of the added printer will appear in the
   "Printers and Faxes" folder.

b. Select "Add Printer".

d. When "Local or Network Printer" in "Add Printer Wizard" appears, select
   "Local printer attached to this computer", check "Automatically detect and
   install my Plug & Play printer", and select "next".

e. "Found New Hardware Wizard" will appear on the screen.  Insert the printer
   driver disk, select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)",
   and select "next".

f. When "Please choose your search and installation options" appears, select
   "Search for the best driver in these locations.", un-check "Search removable
   media (floppy,CD-ROM...)", and only check "Include this location in the
   search".  Enter "A:\Win2k_xp" and select "next".
   NOTE: The FD drive above is assumed to be A:, make changes if necessary.

g. File copy start.

m. When the screen "Hardware Installation" appears, select "Continue Anyway".
   NOTE: As in 3.1, this is the case when the "Driver Signing" is set to
         "Warn".

i. When "Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard" appears, make sure the
   message "The wizard has installing the software for : FUJITSU DL6400Pro"
   appears, and select "Finish".

j. When "New Printer Detection" appears on the screen, Make sure the message
   "Do you want to print a test page?" appears.
   Select "Yes" or "No", and select "next".

k. When "Add Printer Wizard" appears on the screen, make sure the message

   "Local printer attached to this computer", un-check "Automatically detect
   and install my Plug & Play printer", and select "next".

e. Specify the connecting port for the printer, and select "next".

f. Click the "Have Disk..." button.

g. Insert this disk into the FD drive (if A: is the FD drive), change the path
   from "A:\" to "A:\Win2k_xp", and press "OK".

k. When "Completing the Add Printer Wizard" appears on the screen, make sure
   the message "You have successfully completed the Add Printer Wizard. You
   specified the following printer settings" appears. Select "Finish".

l. The files are copied and the installation for the driver is now completed.
   In [j.], when "Print Test Page" is selected, a dialogue box to inform the
   printing complete will appear when printing is completed.  click the "Yes"
   or "Troubleshoot..." button.
   Note  with Test Page:
     - Printing will proceed based on the printer driver settings at the time.

started up.

4. Uninstalling the printer driver

4.1 for Windows2000
+++++++++++++++++++
Printer driver uninstallation is as follows.

a. Go to "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Printers".

b. Select "FUJITSU DL6400Pro" from the "printers" folder, and select "Delete"
   from the "File" menu.

c. When "Are you sure want to delete the printer 'FUJITSU DL6400Pro'?" appears
   on the screen, select "yes".
   NOTE: If the printer driver is not installed, "Warning: The default printer
         has beeb deleted.  There are printers set up on your computer." will
         appear.  Press the "OK" button.
         If there is no default printer, the message "Warning: The default
         printer has been deleted. The new printer is 'XXXXXX XXXXXXX'
         ('XXXXX XXXXXX' being the newly installed printer) will appear on
         the screen.  Press the "OK" button.

d. Select "Server Properties" from the "File" menu, click on the "Drivers" tab.

e. Select "FUJITSU DL6400Pro" from the "Installed printer drivers:" list, and
   select "Remove".

f. When "Deleting this driver will remove it from the system. Are you sure you
   want to delete FUJITSU DL6400Pro?" appears on the screen, select "Yes".

g. After the drive is deleted, click on "Close" and terminate the "Print server
   properties" dialogue.

h. Turn off the printer and restart the computer.

Printer driver is now removed.

Printer driver uninstallation is as follows.

a. Go to "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "Printer and other hardware" ->
   "Printers and Faxes".

b. Select "FUJITSU DL6400Pro" from the "Printers and Faxes" folder, and select
   "Delete" from the "File" menu.

c. For the rest of the procedure, please refer to procedure [c.] and thereafter

5. Printer driver setup method

- Document properties such as paper size and others can be set in the "printer
  properties" menu in the application software.

- Depending on the application software used, the paper size settings of the
  application software may be the default rather than that of the "page
  setting" tab.

- The following is the method for each paper feeding (to set such as paper size
  assignment):
  [for Windows2000]
     Go to "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Printers" -> "FUJITSU DL6400Pro", and
     click on the right button of the mouse, select "properties",
     specify the "Form to Tray assignment" from the "Device Settings" tab.

  [for WindowsXP Professional/Home Edition]
      Select "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "Printer and other hardware" ->
      "Printers and Faxes" -> "FUJITSU DL6400Pro", and click
      on the right button of the mouse, select "properties", specify the "Form
      to Tray assignment" from the "Device Settings" tab.

  [for Windows2003]
     Select "Start" -> "Printers and Faxes" -> "FUJITSU DL6400Pro" and click
     on the right button of the mouse, select "properties", specify the "Form
     to Tray assignment" from the "Device Settings" tab.

  NOTE:
  - This method is valid only when the Paper Source setting of the printer
    driver is set at the "Automatically Select".
  - Please make sure the actual paper size matches the selected paper size.
    Use the "Manual Paper Feed" the actual paper size differs from the selected
    paper size.

- Refer read the chapter of software in the user's manual for further details.



6. Others

a. The emulation for this driver is in the "DPL24C+" mode.
   Make sure the setting of the printer installation corresponds to it.

b. Users are required to adjust devices for such as the paper insertion.
   Please make sure the paper settings, as well as the settings from the
   operation panel correspond to the printer.

c. Printing from Windows95 application software under the Windows2000 or
   WindowsXP, Windows2003 environments may give different results.

d. The contents of "Properties" of the printer driver and "Printing
   Preferences" of the printer may overlap.  Please make necessary adjustments
   to avoid any possible malfunction.

e. Some specified printer fonts from the application may not be used depending
   on the data format.

f. Paper size from the "Server Properties" can be set to a maximum width of
   15 inches.  Adjust the right and left margins not the exceed an 13.6 inch
   paper width as the data may not be properly printed.

g. When printing with a "Page per Sheet" specification from the "layout" tab in
   the print menu, frame lines may not be printed with some applications.

h. Based on the application, zoom-in/out printing may always result in
   10.5-size fonts.

i. Paper with a length of 3 inches - 14 inches isruled with a width of 15
   inches.
   When using paper with a width less than 15 inches, please make adjustments
   to the right margin of the application not to exceed the maximum possible
   range.

j. If printing is cancelled from the printer port during printing, restart the
   printer.
   Continuing printing without restarting the printer may result in problems
   such as garbled texts.

k. The Fujitsu DL Series printers' serial ports only support baud rates of 150,
   300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600 or 19200. Other baud rates should not be
   selected in the driver when using the serial port.
   Furthermore, only 7 or 8 Data bits and 1 or 2 Stop bits are supported.

l. Before using this printer driver for printing, make the printer settings
   given below:

      Emulation mode:  DPL24C+
      Top margin:  2/6 inch
