PREFACE
=======

Thank you for using Fujitsu's MO Device Driver Package.
This package is for use with the following versions of NT and Fujitsu MO drives;

OS:
- Windows NT Workstation Version 4.0(US, PC/AT compatible)
- Windows NT Workstation Version 3.51(US, PC/AT compatible)

MO DRIVE:
- FUJITSU M2511(128MB disk)
- FUJITSU M2512(128MB disk, 230MB disk)
- FUJITSU M2513(128MB disk, 230MB disk, 540MB disk, 640MB disk)

2. INSTALLATION
===============

2.1 HOW TO INSTALL
1) Log on Windows NT in administrator mode.
2) Insert the "Drivers disk" in your A: drive.
3) Select "Run..." from the "Start" button on the task bar. For NT 3.51, select the "File" menu on the "Program Manager" Window and then select "Run...".
4) Type "A:\MOINST.EXE" and click "OK".
5) To assign the drive letter(s) during the installation, follow the 
procedure (6) to (9). Otherwise, restart Windows NT to activate the device 
driver and assign the drive letter by using MO Formatter. Refer to Section 4.6 
HOW TO ASSIGN AND REMOVE THE DRIVE LETTER(S).
6) Click "Drive letter" button in "MO Installer", then "Assign Drive Letter" 
dialog appears.
7) Select MO drive(s) by "Select Device" list box. In order of the MO drives 
connected with your system, the drives are numbered as MO0, MO1,.. . Please 
select MO0 if you connected only 1(one) MO drive..
8) Select a drive letter from "Select Drive" list box and click "Assign" 
button. 
9) Press the "OK" button to exit from "Assign Drive Letter" dialog.
10) After installation is completed, restart Windows NT to activate the device 
driver.

2.2 WHAT THE INSTALLER DOES
The installer, "SETUP.EXE",
1) copies "MOFORMAT.EXE" and "MOFORMAT.HLP" into the "\WINNT\system32\" directory.
2) copies "F3AXMODK.SYS", "F3AXMOKC.SYS" into the "\WINNT\system32\drivers\" directory.


3. DEVICE DRIVER
================

3.1 HOW TO DISABLE YOUR MO DEVICE DRIVER
1) Open the "Main" for NT3.51 or "Start" and "Settings" for NT4.0 --> "Control Panel" --> "Devices" 
    applet.
2) Select "f3axmokc" and press the "Startup..." button, then, a "Device" dialog appears.
3) Select "Disabled" within the "Startup Type" list box and press the "OK" button.
4) Select "f3axmodk" and press the "Startup..." button, and a "Device" dialog appears.
5) Select "Disabled" within the "Startup Type" list box and press the "OK" button.
6) Press the "Close" button to finish the "Devices" applet.
7) Restart Windows NT.

3.2 HOW TO ENABLE YOUR MO DEVICE DRIVER
This section shows how to enable the MO device driver after it has been disabled.
1) Open the "Main" for NT3.51 or "Start" and "Settings" for NT4.0  --> "Control Panel" --> "Devices"
    applet.
2) Select "f3axmokc" and press the "Startup..." button, then, a "Device" dialog appears.
3) Select "System" within the "Startup Type" list box and press the "OK" button.
4) Select "f3axmodk" and press the "Startup..." button, and a "Device" dialog appears.
5) Select "Boot" within the "Startup Type" list box and press the "OK" button.
6) Press the "Close" button to finish the "Devices" applet.
7) Reconfirm the settings on the above and then restart Windows NT.


4. FORMAT UTILITY
4.1 FUNCTIONS
The MO Formatter has 4 functions.
- Formatting MO disks.
- Converting MO disks.
- Ejecting MO disks.
- Assigning drive letter(s).

4.2 HOW TO RUN MO FORMAT UTILITY
NOTE: Before operating the MO format utility, exit all file management tools.
1) Select "Run..." from the "Start" button on the task bar. For NT 3.51, select the "File" menu on the "Program Manager" and then select "Run...".
2) Type "MOFORMAT.EXE" and click "OK", then MO format utility runs.

4.3 HOW TO FORMAT
This function is used for formatting a MO disk with one of the following three format types.
- SUPER FLOPPY TYPE
- PC-AT HARD DISK TYPE
- NSR TYPE

4.3.1 HOW TO FORMAT WITH SUPER FLOPPY TYPE
1) Run MO format utility. (Refer to section 4.2 HOW TO RUN MO FORMAT UTILITY.)
2) Select the MO drive by pressing the button which indicates the MO disk to be formatted.
3) Select the "Format" menu and select "Format MO...".
4) Select "S-FPD" in the "Format type" list box.
5) If necessary, type the volume ID in the "Volume ID" edit box.
6) To low-level-format the disk, check the "Low-Level format" check box.
7) To format the disk quickly, check the "Quick format" check box.
8) Press the "OK" button.
9) Select the "Format" menu and select "Commit changes now...".
10) Follow the instruction on the screen.
11) Exit MO format utility.

4.3.2 HOW TO FORMAT WITH PC-AT HARD DISK TYPE
NOTE: It is necessary to assign at least as many drive letters as there are partitions created.
1) Run MO format utility. (Refer to section 4.2 HOW TO RUN MO FORMAT UTILITY.)
2) Select the MO drive by pressing the button which indicates the MO disk to be formatted.
3) Select the "Format" menu and select "Format MO...".
4) Select "PC-AT" in the "Format type" list box.
5) To low-level-format the disk, check the "Low-Level format" check box.
6) Press the "OK" button.
7) Use the mouse to select the free area.
8) Select the "Format" menu and select "Create partition..." for primary partitioning or "Create extended partition..." for extended partitioning.
9) Type the partition size to be created in the "Specify partition size" edit box.
10) Select the file system from the "File system" combo box.
11) If necessary, type the volume label in the "Label" edit box.
12) To format the disk quickly, check the "Quick format" check box.
13) To create another partition, repeat steps 7) through 12).
14) Select the "Format" menu and select "Commit changes now...".
15) Follow the instruction on the screen.
16) Exit the MO format utility.

4.3.3 HOW TO FORMAT WITH NSR DISK TYPE
NOTE: It is necessary to assign at least as many drive letters as there are partitions to be created.
1) Run MO format utility. (Refer to section 4.2 HOW TO RUN MO FORMAT UTILITY.)
2) Select the MO drive by pressing the button which indicates the MO disk to be formatted.
3) Select the "Format" menu and select "Format MO...".
4) Select "NSR" in the "Format type" list box.
5) If necessary, type the volume ID in the "Volume ID" edit box.
6) To low-level-format the disk, check the "Low-Level format" check box.
7) Press the "OK" button.
8) Use the mouse to select the free area.
9) Select the "Format" menu and select "Create partition...".
10) Type the partition size to be created in the "Specify partition size" edit box.
11) Select the file system from the "File system" combo box.
12) If necessary, type the volume label in the "Label" edit box.
13) To format the disk quickly, check "Quick format" check box.
14) To create another partition, repeat step 8) through 13).
15) Select the "Format" menu and select "Commit changes now...".
16) Follow the instruction on the screen.
17) Exit the MO format utility.

4.4 HOW TO CONVERT THE INCOMPATIBLE DISK
This function is used for converting a MO disk which is formatted by another formatter. 
1) Run MO Formatter. (Refer to section 4.2 HOW TO RUN MO FORMAT UTILITY.)
2) Select the MO drive by pressing the button which indicates the MO disk to be converted.
3) Select the "Tools" menu and select "MO Compatibility...".
4) Follow the instruction on the screen.
5) Exit the MO format utility.

4.5 HOW TO EJECT
This function is used to eject the MO disk from the MO drive.
1) Run MO format utility. (Refer section 4.2 HOW TO RUN MO FORMAT UTILITY.)
2) Select the MO drive by pressing the button which indicates the MO disk to be ejected.
3) Select the "Tools" menu and select "Eject MO...".
4) Follow the instruction on the screen.
5) Exit the MO format utility.

4.6 HOW TO ASSIGN AND REMOVE THE DRIVE LETTER(S)
This function is used to assign and remove the drive letter(s) for MO drive(s). More than one drive letter can be assigned with this function.
NOTE: At least two drive letters must be assigned to use a two-partition disk.
1) Run MO format utility. (Refer to section 4.2 HOW TO RUN MO FORMAT UTILITY.)
2) Insert an MO disk(s) into the MO drive(s) if one is not inserted.
3) Select an MO drive by pressing the button which indicates the MO drive.
4) Select the "Tools" menu and select "Assign drive letters...".
5) To assign a drive letter, select a drive letter from the "Selected drive letters" list box and press the "Add" button.
6) To remove a drive letter, select a drive letter from the "Assigned drive letters" list box and press the "Remove" button.
7) Press the "OK" button to exit from the "Assign Drive Letter" dialog.
8) Exit MO format utility.
9) Restart Windows NT.


5. TROUBLE SHOOTING
Q1. No drive letter is assigned to the MO drive.
A1. The drive letter is not assigned immediately after the driver is installed or an extra MO drive is connected to your PC. Use MOFORMAT.EXE to assign the drive letter. Refer section 4.6 HOW TO ASSIGN AND REMOVE THE DRIVE LETTER(S) for more information.

Q2. The second or subsequent partition(s) is not accessible.
A2. The drive letter(s) for the second or subsequent partition(s) is not assigned. Use MOFORMAT.EXE to assign the drive letter(s). Refer section 4.6 HOW TO ASSIGN AND REMOVE THE DRIVE LETTER(S) for more information.

Q3. Cannot read/write a MO disk.
A3. A disk which is formatted by another formatter might have this problem. In order to solve this problem, use MOFORMAT.EXE to convert the disk and make it readable. Refer section 4.4 HOW TO CONVERT for more information.
