Thank you for purchasing Nikon Coolpix 900. We are sure that it will give you many
hours of reliable and productive use. Please read the following important
information, which was not included in the manual.

For viewing images taken with the Coolpix 900, you have a couple of choices:

- You can remove the Compact Flash card from the camera and use a card reader or
PCMCIAadapter to mount the card directly on your computer.

- You can plug the camera's serial port directly into your computer.

Nikon View 900 is designed to facilitate the second choice.

1. Serial connection between your computer and the camera

1.1. Setting the port
The Coolpix 900 can be connected to "COM1", "COM2", "COM3"
or "COM4". Please connect the camera to the port that you assigned
when you installed the software. If you want to change the port setting,
select the setting menu and change the port.

1.2. Setting the speed
The default speed of communication is 115Kbps. If communication with the
camera is unstable, change the speed to 19.2Kbps. You should click the
"Setting" button to change the speed.

1.3. Connecting the camera
Depending on the type of personal computer that is used, at the time of
delivery the computer may be set so that the serial port cannot be utilized.

When connecting the camera, check to see that the computer is set so that
the serial port can be utilized.

If the serial port cannot be utilized, refer to the manual of the personal
computer to make appropriate changes to the settings.

(Look for descriptions such as "Using equipment requiring serial connections
or RS-232C connections.")
