This document contains last minute information related to the Nikon
Software for Windows disk. Changes for this revision are indicated by "*".

* Aldus PhotoStyler SE versions
-------------------------------
Aldus has dropped suport for all non-Twain compliant scanner aquire
modules with the SE version since this version is only available with a
scanner purchase. You can use Nikon Control to scan an image, save it and
import it into PhotoStyler SE or copy and paste the image using the
clipboard.

* Adobe Photoshop 2.5 and 2.5.1
-------------------------------
Previously, if changes were made to the monitor preferences, the preview
image would look slightly different than final scan. This has been fixed.
The Photoshop software must be installed before installing the scanner
driver because both Photoshop and the Nikon Control software use the
Microsoft Windows installer. Only one copy of the Microsoft Windows
installer can be run at the same time.

Scanner Timeout Values
----------------------
In the Tools dialog there are two timeout values labeled 'Preview timeout'
and 'Scan timeout'. The Preview timeout is the number of seconds the
computer can pause communications with the scanner during a preview scan.
This applies mainly if you are performing background operations or if you
switch to another application while performing a preview. The Scan timeout
has a similar function but it is used during the final scan. You may need
to lengthen this value for scans that do not fit entirely in memory under
certain circumstances; if you have a slower hard drive, if you use a
background application that is hard disk intensive, or if you switch to
another application during scanning. These values are also in effect when
the message 'Waiting for scanner reset' appears. Larger values will result
in longer scanner reset times. For some scanner models, the words
'Preview timeout' and 'Scan timeout' are grayed. In this case, these
values will have no effect and the message 'Waiting for scanner reset' will
not appear.

SCSI Scanners
-------------
If you install the SCSI ASPI driver included on this disk, the CONFIG.SYS
file must be updated to include the line: DRIVER=d:\path\MA13B.SYS where
'd:\path' is the drive and path that the software is installed to. You may
choose to allow Nikon Setup to update the CONFIG.SYS file or update it
yourself. In order for the ASPI driver to load, you must reboot the
computer. This option is given to you once the install is complete.

Nikon ImageAccess/PC
--------------------
Running the ImageAccess/PC installer from Nikon Setup will only install to
the C:\IMGAXS directory. If you wish to install to another directory or
drive, you must run the ImageAccess/PC installer BEFORE running Nikon
Setup and choose to Update a current installation.

Aldus PhotoStyler 1.1 and 2.0
-----------------------------
The File, Scan, Show Scanning menu option has no effect.

Micrografx Picture Publisher 3.1
--------------------------------
Attempting a scan that is larger than the available disk space may crash
Picture Publisher.

Micrografx Picture Publisher 4.0
--------------------------------
If the scanner dialog has been used during a session of Picture Publisher,
Windows must be restarted to unload the scanner driver. If Picture
Publisher is reloaded with out restarting Windows, it will crash when the
scanner dialog is brought up again. This problem has been fixed in Picture
Publisher 4.0a. Owners of version 4.0 can obtain a free upgrade by calling
Micrografx technical support at 214-234-2694.
