Nikon Scan Version 1.63 E

>> About using NikonScan 1.6 on Windows NT

This software requires the 32-bit ASPI software layer (a suite of
6 files) to be installed on your system. The Windows NT system as
supplied by Microsoft does not include the 32-bit ASPI layer software
and you will therefore need to have installed it expressly afterwards.

To verify if your system has the ASPI 32-bit layer installed, check to
see if the file called wnaspi32.dll, is present in your winnt/system32
folder. This file is installed as part of the layer software.

The ASPI layer can be installed with Adaptec's EZ-SCSI program (usually
supplied with an Adaptec SCSI adaptor card)
If you have a copy of Adaptec EZ_SCSI and have not installed it yet,
please do so before installing this software and attempting to use
your scanner. If you do not have a copy of this software you may
download the ASPI layer installer file from the adaptec web site at

www.adaptec.com/support/BBS_EZSCSI.html#EZSCSI
File name ASPI32.EXE

Nikon recommends and fully support Adaptec SCSI host adapters for
use with its' Electronic imaging product range.

>> About The Nikon Scan 1.6 95/NT Installer

This release is intended for Windows95/NT 4.0 (It cannot be guaranteed to
work under versions of Windows NT previous to 4.0).Please be aware
that this installer does not support Windows 3.11, Windows3.1 or older.

When an older Windows95 version of Nikon Scan is found on your system
it will be replaced with a new installation of Nikon Scan 1.6. This will
be done automatically even you selected new directory which is
different from old directory.
An older Windows3.1 version of Nikon Scan will remain on your system. Nikon
Scan for Windows 3.1 is a 16-bit suite including mini application, 16-bit
TWAIN driver source and scanner modules.

>> About automated continuous scans

Automated continuous scanning is available with Photoshop when a
scanner with the ability to perform automated scanning (LS-1000
with an SF-100 or an AX110/210 with an AF-10 or AF-20) is
connected. Holding down the Ctrl key while pressing the Scan
button on the NikonScan window will start a continuous scan.

>> Known problems with NikonScan

Some TWAIN Compliant Applications (such as the Adaptec Scanning
Utility, which is part of the full EZ-SCSI package and Corel
Photopaint) limit the maximum scanned file size to 16 Megabytes.
This will be addressed in a future revision of the Nikon Scan
  TWAIN Source.

Please check disk space if the TWAIN Source displays an error
message informing you that there is not enough memory. Nikon
Control needs a minimum amount (variable, dependent upon
  usage) of disk space to use as it's virtual memory system;
  especially when using the AF-100.

The Nikon TWAIN source is installed in the "TWAIN_32" directory
and each Nikon scanner driver file is installed in the
"MDMODS32" directory. If you move these directories or change
their name(s), you may not be able to use the scanner.
