*********************************************************************
WARNING!!! (Read the following before using your firmware update
software.)
*********************************************************************
CAUTION: running the update software
- Before running the update software, confirm that the power and
interface cables are properly attached to the scanner and the host
computer.
- After beginning the update, do not turn off the scanner or the host
computer until a message appears indicating that the update is
complete. You should also be sure not to disconnect the interface
cable. Depending on their timing, either of these actions could
damage the scanners firmware, making further downloads impossible.
- The update takes about one minute to complete.

3. Before Using Firmware Update Software (Firmware Version Information)
This update software upgrades the firmware for the LS-2000 to Version
1.31 and the firmware for the COOLSCAN III to version 1.31.

These versions differ from the earlier versions listed below in the
following respects:

*********************************************
Changes from LS-2000 version 1.21, COOLSCAN III version 1.20:
  1) A problem with occasional loss of detail in shadows when scanning
     monochrome nagatives was addressed.
  2) The negative prescan option now offers an automatic mode, together
with three additional modes that can be chosen according to the
image scanned (this function is only available when the scanner
is used with Nikon Scan versions 2.5 or later).

*********************************************
Changes from LS-2000 version 1.12, COOLSCAN III version 1.11:
  1) Fixed problem with mouse cursor freezing in preview window
when the scanner was used with PIO-transfer SCSI boards such
     as the AHA-2920.
  2) Solved color problems (e.g., color overlap) that occurred at
a "Scanner Extras: Negative Prescan" setting of "Alternative."

*********************************************
Changes from LS-2000 versions 1.03 and 1.04, COOLSCAN III version
  1.01 and 1.02:
In addition to addressing the issues described above under the
heading, "Changes from LS-2000 version 1.12, COOLSCAN III version
1.11," the following problems have been addressed:

- Thumbnail images may differ sharply from the image that appears in
  the preview window.
- Frame positioning when using snapshot APS film from some
disposable cameras in the IA-20 may be inaccurate in some cases.
- In some cases, when connecting with an unstable SCSI bus, the
scanning point of origin may not be detected.

*********************************************
  From LS-2000 version 1.01:
Addressed issues described above under the headings, "Changes from
LS-2000 version 1.12, COOLSCAN III version 1.11" and "Changes from
  LS-2000 versions 1.03 and 1.04, COOLSCAN III version 1.01 and 1.02."
The following problems have been addressed:

- Starting the PC without any film loaded when using the Adaptec
AHA-2940AU as a SCSI host adapter (depending on the combination of
the BIOS version of the 2940AU, and the PC motherboard) may cause
the PC to freeze, or cause considerable delays. In some cases,
although the PC may continue to function, it may not recognize the
  scanner.
- In the process of creating IA thumbnails with the Macintosh version
of NikonScan, when attempting to abort, the host may sometimes freeze.
