Access Controllers
In Access Controllers, you can add, edit, enable, disable, and delete controllers. You can also retrieve the current controller status as well as customize door privileges for individual cardholders.
Add Controllers
To add a controller:
- Click Add. An Add Controller window will appear.
- Enter a name to identify this controller in Name.
- Enter the controller's network information in IP address and Port. Both IP addresses and hostnames are accepted. You can also click Search, allowing the system to search for controllers installed in the same domain. The system will automatically display the model, IP address, port number, and MAC address. Select a controller from the list and click OK to automatically complete the IP address, Port, and Model fields.
- Select your camera's model from the Model drop-down list.
- Enter the username and password of the controller's administrator account in Username and Password.
- Click Test Connection to verify controller connectivity.
- Click Next to continue configuring advanced settings.
- Select a server from the
Network time server drop-down list. You may also choose to disable this function.
- Select the time zone of this controller from the Time zone drop-down list.
- Enter a name to identify this door in Door.
- Check the Set a paired camera as a video source box to pair this door to an existing camera.
- Select a recording server of Local host from the Server drop-down list.
- Select the camera you want to pair with this door from the Camera drop-down list.
- Click Finish to complete the setup. If the controller has any peers, they will also be added.
Limitations:
- The controller name is case sensitive. 1 to 32 Unicode characters are allowed, excluding the following symbols: ! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , / : ; < = > ? @ [ ] \ ^ ` { } | ~
- Username is case sensitive. 1 to 32 Unicode characters are allowed.
- Password is case sensitive, and should be within 24 displayable characters, including letters, numbers, signs, and space.
Edit Controllers
To edit a controller's settings:
- Select the controller you want to change settings for, and click Edit. You can also double-click a controller to change its settings.
- Click Finish to save your changes.
Enable or Disable Controllers
Newly added controllers must be enabled before they can be managed and perform all supported actions.
To enable or disable controllers:
- Select the controller you want to enable or disable, and click Enable or Disable from the Enable drop-down list.
Note:
- Disabling a controller will not delete its settings.
Retrieve Controller Settings
After changing the settings of a controller from its web interface, Surveillance Station may need to retrieve the settings to work properly. Retrieving settings will synchronize the following data:
- Controller name
- Network time server and time zone
- Door settings (Paired camera is not affected)
- Cardholder data (Any cardholders that no longer exist on the controller will be removed; new cardholders will be added.)
- Log settings
To retrieve controller settings:
- Select the controller you want to retrieve, and click Retrieve.
Note:
- Retrieving controller settings may take more than several minutes depending on the retrieved data size and network bandwidth. The controller status will display Retrieving during this process.
Set Up Privileges
You can manage privileges for each user and door to help minimize unnecessary security risks. The default privilege setting for Managers is full control of the doors. The default privilege setting for Spectators is no door access.
To set up privileges:
- Click Privilege. A Privilege window will appear.
- Select a door on the left panel to display associated user accounts and their current privileges. You can also click Hide Unauthorized to hide the users who have no privileges at all.
- For each door, you may grant Authorized or Manual Lock privilege(s) to any associated user by checking the corresponding box.
- Click Save to save your changes.
Delete Controllers
- Select the controller you want to delete and click Delete.
- A confirmation prompt will appear. Click Yes to continue.
Note:
- Deleting a controller will also delete its settings. A controller's cardholder information and logs will also be permanently deleted from Surveillance Station.
