SMS

You can set up Surveillance Station to automatically send you system notifications by SMS. You can apply existing notification settings from DSM or configure new notification settings.

To set up SMS notifications using existing notification settings in DSM:

  1. Check the Enable SMS notifications box.
  2. Select Apply SMS notification settings specified at DSM > Control Panel.
  3. Click Send a test SMS message and then OK to see if your settings are correct. Check your settings if no test SMS message is received.
  4. Click Apply to save your changes.

To set up SMS notifications using an existing SMS provider:

  1. Check the Enable SMS notifications box.
  2. Select Apply the following SMS settings to enter new SMS information.
  3. Select an SMS provider from the drop-down menu. The default service provider is "Clickatell".
  4. Enter your SMS account information in Username, Password, and Confirm Password.
  5. Specify a primary number in Primary phone number. You may also specify a secondary number in Secondary phone number. Notifications will be sent to specified phone numbers.
  6. If you do not want to receive too many messages, check the Enable SMS interval limit box. Then specify how frequently you want to receive messages in Minimum interval between each message (minutes). This message interval is the minimum time between messages. The value must be between 1 and 10000 minutes.
  7. Click Send a test SMS message and then OK to see if your settings are correct. Check your settings if no test SMS message is received.
  8. Click Apply to save your changes.

To set up SMS notifications using a new SMS provider:

  1. Check the Enable SMS notifications box.
  2. Select Apply the following SMS settings to enter new SMS information.
  3. Click Add SMS service provider.
  4. In Provider name, enter the name of your SMS service provider.
  5. In SMS URL, enter an SMS URL obtained from your SMS service provider.
  6. Click Next.
  7. In the URL parameter definition window, the system will break down the SMS URL into several parameters. Define each parameter by selecting the corresponding category. Each parameter category can be used only once except Other.
  8. Select your SMS provider from the drop-down menu.
  9. Enter your SMS account information in Username, Password, and Confirm Password.
  10. Specify a primary number in Primary phone number. You may also specify a secondary number in Secondary phone number. Notifications will be sent to specified phone numbers.
  11. If you do not want to receive too many messages, check the Enable SMS interval limit box. Then specify how frequently you want to receive messages in Minimum interval between each message (minutes). This message interval is the minimum time between messages. The value must be between 1 and 10000 minutes.
  12. Click Send a test SMS message and then OK to see if your settings are correct. Check your settings if no test SMS message is received.
  13. Click Apply to save your changes.

Note:

  1. Provider name: case sensitive and must be between 1 and 32 Unicode characters.
  2. SMS URL: case sensitive and must be between 1 and 500 Unicode characters. The number of parameters must be between 4 and 10. This SMS URL is only for setup purposes. No SMS message will be sent after setup is completed. The format of this URL is provided by the SMS service provider, and the URL must include the following parameters: username, password, destination phone, and message content. Using Clickatell as an example, a possible URL is: https://api.clickatell.com/http/sendmsg?user=TestUser&password=TestPassword&api_id=3148203&to=886123456789&text=Hello+world. Please note that in the "message content" parameter, the space between "Hello" and "world" will be replaced by a particular character defined by the service provider.
  3. If you failed to send SMS messages, you can try sending again with or without the sign “+” at the beginning of the phone number.
