Trigger Home Mode by Geofence automatically

Overview

Geofence allows you to switch in and out of Home Mode automatically when entering or leaving a geofence, according to the location of your mobile device. 

1. Enable and Set up Geofence

  1. Log in to DS cam on your mobile device.
  2. Go to Settings on the main menu.
  3. In Settings, you can enable the Geofence function. If you have not set up Geofence before, the system will automatically direct you to the location settings page in Home Mode.
    Note:

    Please make sure you have authorized DS cam to access the location of your mobile device.

  4. Select Home Mode in the main menu.
  5. In Home Mode, You can switch in and out of Home Mode manually, setup Geofence Location and Advanced enhancement, and view a list of Geofence Binding devices.
  6. Select Location in Home Mode to adjust the Geofence location.
  7. In the Location settings page, you can adjust the center and radius of Geofence, and the delay time of the Geofence trigger. The center of Geofence can be modified by dragging and dropping the red pin, searching an address in the search field, or tapping on the current location icon on the upper-right corner.
  8. If you require a more precise locating service, please go to Home Mode > Advanced enhancement, and then enable High accuracy.
    9. Note:
    • Mobile devices that enable High accuracy may consume a significant amount of power.
    • Advanced enhancement will not be available in Home Mode until enabling the Geofence function.

2. Geofence Trigger

For mobile devices with Geofence enabled, Home Mode will be enabled automatically when your mobile device enters the Geofence range, and will be disabled automatically when your mobile device leaves the Geofence range.

Note:

When DS cam is running as a background task, your location can still be detected if you remain logged in and ensure Geofence is enabled.

3. Advanced Geofence Wi-Fi Functions

The Wi-Fi function of Geofence allows you to switch in and out of Home Mode automatically when entering or leaving a Wi-Fi network.

Before setting up this function, make sure your mobile device is connected to the desired Wi-Fi network. The system will use the Wi-Fi network your mobile device is currently connected to as the selected Wi-Fi network for Home Mode switching.

  1. Go to Home Mode > Advanced enhancement, and then enable the Wi-Fi function.
  2. In the pop-up window, select OK to confirm using the current Wi-Fi connection of the device as the Geofence Wi-Fi.
  3. If you want to change the Geofence Wi-Fi network, please connect your device to the Wi-Fi you want to use, then go to Home Mode > Advanced enhancement and select Change to the current Wi-Fi network.
  4. In the pop-up window, select OK to confirm changing the Wi-Fi network.
