Advanced
Video Source
To configure the video source for live view and mobile streaming:
- In the Video Source section, select either of the following options from the Live view and Mobile drop-down menus:
- From Surveillance Station: Select this option if you are unable to watch Live View via the Internet when using the camera as the video source. Selecting this option consumes more server resources and may add time delay to Live View.
- From Camera: Select this option to avoid using additional server resources and minimize time delay of Live View. However, you must set port forwarding for the camera to watch Live View via the Internet. However, selecting this option will increase the number of camera streaming connections. Watching live-view channels from multiple devices may cause disconnection or black screen resulted from insufficient capability of your camera.
Note: The video source for Mobile is configurable for iOS devices only. For Android devices, the video source is always Surveillance Station.
- Click Save to apply the settings.
Multicast Settings
With multicast feature, Surveillance Station can multicast video and audio streaming via a specific IP address and ports to save bandwidth on your server.
Note:
- Multicast is an advanced application, please go to Application Center to enable LiveView Multicast to use this feature.
- The From Surveillance Station option must be selected from the Live view drop-down menu under the Video source section in order to tick the Enable multicast checkbox.
To enable multicast streaming on live view or mobile:
- Tick the Enable multicast checkbox.
- Assign an IP address as the Group address.
Note: Group address is valid within the range between 224.0.1.0 and 239.255.255.255.
- Assign Video port and Audio port.
Note: These two ports must be assigned an even number within the range between 10000 and 65534. The two ports must be different values.
- Click Save to apply the settings.
Note:
- After enabling and configuring Multicast settings, when you right-click on the camera in IP Camera and select Get stream path, you will find an extra row entitled *Multicast. The URL path beneath it is used for RTSP multicast.
- Any two cameras cannot have the same Group address and Audio port/Video port.
- When a port number (n) is assigned to a Video port/Audio port, the system will automatically use the following 5 port numbers (n+1 ~ n+5) as well.
