Ferrocene-bridging dinuclear cyclen copper(II) complexes as high efficient artificial nucleases: design, synthesis and interaction with DNA (p 243-248)
Kun Li, Ji Zhang, Jing-Jing Zhang, Zhong-Wei Zhang, Zhen-Jing Zhuang, Dan Xiao, Hong-Hui Lin, Xiao-Qi Yu
Published Online: Apr 14 2008 7:26AM
DOI: 10.1002/aoc.1384

Two novel cyclen copper(II) complexes bridged by ferrocene were designed and synthesized. Both of these two complexes exhibited excellent cleavage ability towards plasmid DNA via an oxidative pathway without the presence of any additives.

Influence of substituents in the salicylaldehyde-derived Schiff bases on vanadium-catalyzed asymmetric oxidation of sulfides (p 253-257)
Haibin Liu, Mei Wang, Ying Wang, Ran Yin, Wei Tian, Licheng Sun
Published Online: Apr 14 2008 7:26AM
DOI: 10.1002/aoc.1386

A series of chiral Schiff bases L1-L7 were prepared and applied to the asymmetric oxidation of aryl methyl sulfides. Under the optimal condition, the oxidation of aryl methyl sulfides with H2O2 as oxidant in CH2Cl2 catalyzed by VO(acac)2/L1-L7 gives good yields (74-85%) with moderate to high enantioselectivity (58-90% ee).

Ligand effects in palladium-catalyzed Suzuki and Heck coupling reactions (p 270-275)
M. Emre Hanhan
Published Online: Apr 14 2008 7:26AM
DOI: 10.1002/aoc.1389

A range of sterically hindered diimine ligands and their palladium(II) complexes were synthesized. And the catalytic activity of these complexes for Suzuki and Heck reactions were discussed.

o-Carboxybenzoylferrocene. Bioactivity and chemical Modifications (p 276-280)
Alexander A. Simenel, Svetlana V. Samarina, Lubov' V. Snegur, Zoya A. Starikova, Larissa A. Ostrovskaya, Natalia V. Bluchterova, Margarita M. Fomina
Published Online: Apr 14 2008 7:26AM
DOI: 10.1002/aoc.1397

The antitumor activity of o-carboxybenzoylferrocene sodium salt (1) was studied in vivo. Interaction between o-carboxybenzoylferrocene (2) and N,N-carbonyldiimidazole in boiling methylene dichloride leads to 3-(N-imidazolyl)-3-ferrocenylisobenzofuran-1(3H)-one (5). The structure of compound 5 was established by X-ray analysis. Aminolysis of compound 5 in toluene gave rise to ferrocenoylbenzamides (6a-d)-derivatives of dimethylamine, piperidine, pyrrolidine and morpholine.
