Meeting of the Presidential Advisory Committee on High 
Performance Computing and Communications, Information Technology, and 
the Next Generation Internet

ACTION: Notice of meeting.

SUMMARY: This notice sets forth the schedule and summary agenda for the 
next meeting of the Presidential Advisory Committee on High Performance 
Computing and Communications, Information Technology, and the Next 
Generation Internet. The meeting will be open to the public. Notice of 
this meeting is required under the Federal Advisory Committee Act. 
(Pub. L. 92-463).

DATES: December 9-10, 1997.

ADDRESSES: NSF Board Room (Room 1235), National Science Foundation, 
4201 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22230.

PROPOSED SCHEDULE AND AGENDA: The Presidential Advisory Committee will

meet in open session from approximately 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. 
to 5:30 p.m. on December 9, 1997, and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on 
December 10, 1997. This meeting will include briefings on the budgets 
of the five CIC R&D Program Component Areas (High End Computing and 
Computation; Large Scale Networking; High Confidence Systems; Human 
Centered Systems; and Education, Training, and Human Resources) and 
briefings by Federal officials on R&D topics of interest to the 
Committee. Time will also be allocated during the meeting for public 
comments by individuals and organizations.

with Section 552b(c) of Title 5, U.S.C., specifically paragraph (1) 
thereof, and Title 5, U.S.C., Appendix 2, subsection 10(d). The 
classified and unclassified matters to be discussed are so 
inextricably intertwined so as to preclude opening any portion of
